iPhone 3G and firmware 2.0 is released

The new iPhone and the 2.0 firmware has now been officially released. Since there's no way to unlock/activate it yet, do not upgrade until a solution for unlocking and activating this firmware is available. So hit cancel, and "do not notifiy me again" when iTunes prompts you to upgrade. The Dev Team claim to have a solution (for 1G phones), soon to be released.
